Master of Arts

This postgraduate course is designed for those who hold a tertiary qualification in a non-theological discipline. It consists of twelve course units (six core and six electives). Students are able to select units to develop a specialisation in the following fields: Biblical Studies, Christian Spirituality, Pastoral Practice, Theological Studies. Students who enrol in the Master of Arts degree may exit with one of the following awards - Graduate Certificate in Arts or Graduate Diploma in Arts provided they have met the requirements of those awards.

Admission Requirements

A prior recognised three-year degree or equivalent in a discipline other than Theology.

Program Structure

The twelve course units comprises six core course units (54 credit points) and six elective course units (54 credit points) from the list of assignable units. When a student chooses to focus on a specific area of study some elective units will be taken from that area of study.

  • Credit for prior comparable graduate studies may be given up to half the program, 54 credit points.
  • In order to exit with an SCD award, at least one half of the program of studies must be with the SCD.

For a Biblical Studies specialisation

  • ARG411 - Beginning Old Testament Hebrew OR
    ARG421 - Beginning New Testament Greek

+ Three course units (18 credit points) from the list of assignable units at G400/500 levels with at least two from Biblical Studies or Biblical languages and two units from the G400/500 levels and M400 level (MTh course unit fee applies).

For a Christian Spirituality specialisation

For a Pastoral Practice specialisation
